Edwardian Conservatories followed on from the Victorian Conservatory, generally, Conservatories didn’t really take off until Victorian times, it was the during the reign of King Edward that the very rich & famous first introduced rooms with more glazing than brick. So, if you choose an Edwardian conservatory you are in very exclusive company!
The bold, large conservatory style maximises the floor space available. The square or rectangular shape offers the greatest flexibility when it comes to positioning furniture with ease, whilst the sloping glass roof gives a greater impression of space and creates a light, relaxed living space.
The classic four-sided pitched roof of the Edwardian conservatory makes a fantastic structural statement and will set off both period and modern houses. Period features can be added to the roof in the form of finials and crests. The roof height and generous floor space of the Edwardian make it a multi-functional area, large enough to accommodate a dining table or lounge furniture – you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it.
The choice of roof styles for your Edwardian Conservatories will depend on the amount of sunlight in your garden and how you intend to use your new conservatory. We have a choice of five different roof styles. The most cost effective is the High Specification Polycarbonate Roof. If you are looking to keep your conservatory warm in the winter and cool in the summer you might consider a solar reflective glass roof which has the added benefit of being self-cleaning. For a conservatory which feels more like a room of your house, you have solid roof options. The Frames Conservatories Direct Warm Roof gives you the flexibility of a part solid and part glazed roof or we have two tiled roof options which gives your conservatory the appearance of an extension.
All our Edwardian Conservatories are available in UPVC, Aluminium or Timber conservatory and the choice will be determined by personal preference. This is something you can discuss with our Design Consultants during your visit.
